The TOEFL (“Test of English as a Foreign Language”) isa standardized test that measures a test taker's mastery of the English language. All English language academies and professional bodies accept it. It is one of the two major tests for the English language along with IELTS. TOEFL is an ETS trademark. TOEFL scores are primarily used by universities as part of the admissions process.
TYPES OF TOEFL TEST
There are mainly two types of TOEFL
1. TOEFL IBT- IBT stands for Internet-based test. You will take the TOEFL IBT on a computer, using a headset to listen, a microphone for your speaking parts, and type your answers on a keyboard for the writing section.
2 TOEFL PBT- The TOEFL PBT test is a strictly paper and pencil-based exam.
The TOEFL iBT is more available compared to the PBT.
TOEFL Eligibility
To appear for TOEFL, ETS (Educational Testing Service) did not mention any mandatory eligibility criteria for TOEFL. Before registering, candidates must go through certain guidelines as mentioned on the official website. ETS did not mention any age limitfor the applicant. As per educational eligibility, candidates must pass out a higher school degree.
